has been divided into 4 parts:
The first part aims to describe the type of questions and activities that have been raised in the different Autonomous Communities, providing some advice and/or theoretical aspects related to them.
It serves as a reference for conceptual aspects such as phonetics and phonemic transcription; various types of text analysis, including literary, lexical and cohesive devices; communicative functions; essay and abstract writing; or some ideas for use in class.
For those candidates who have a translation, this part provides some tips and techniques to consider when dealing with translations, so that they sound as natural and idiomatic as possible.
The second part focuses on various types of text analysis and, in particular, those that are not covered in our Text Analysis.
Questions, texts and solutions.
It also includes a variety of linguistic exercises often related to the text: cognates, homonyms, phrasal verbs, idiomatic expressions, synonyms, antonyms, hypernymal classification, definition of words or expressions and some paraphrases.
The type of analysis of the texts varies to reflect the texts that have appeared in the different Autonomous Communities, including proposals for use in class.
It consists of 26 texts in total.
The third part is for those - mainly language school teachers, but also some secondary school teachers from regions like Madrid - who have translations in their language exams.
There are 12 texts in English and 12 in Spanish (24 in total), with a first warm-up activity plus 2 test exams, i.e. 2 texts in each.
Finally, the last part is the suggested answer key, which has been divided into two sections: one for text analysis and linguistic exercises, and the other for translations.
The suggestions for use in class of three of the texts refer to three didactic units of our English.
(Part III: A sample).
The texts have been designed taking into account the feedback of former students who currently hold permanent teaching positions in the State Educational System, both in Secondary Education and in Schools.
Some of the texts actually made it through some competitive exams.
